"From the very first session, I felt listened to and never judged. Theresa created a space where I could finally slow down, breathe, and begin to understand myself more clearly. The support I received has stayed with me long after our sessions ended."

"I came to counselling feeling overwhelmed and unsure where to start. Theresa helped me make sense of my thoughts and emotions in a way that felt manageable and safe. I left with greater self-awareness and tools I still use daily."
My name is Theresa Finnigan, and I am a Counsellor, holistic therapist, and workshop facilitator based in Ryton, Gateshead, offering in-person and online support for adults, young people aged 16+, and couples.
I am glad you are here.
Reaching out for counselling can feel like a big and sometimes frightening step. You may be feeling anxious, overwhelmed, low in mood, lost in relationships, or carrying the effects of trauma or abuse. Perhaps you’re beginning to explore your identity, navigating a recent or late-life autism or ADHD diagnosis, or struggling with compulsive or addictive behaviours. Whatever brings you here, you do not have to navigate it alone.
I offer a calm, compassionate, and grounding space where you can talk openly, feel truly heard, and begin to make sense of what’s happening for you.
I work with clients experiencing:
Trauma
Domestic or sexual abuse
Anxiety, depression and emotional overwhelm
Grief and loss
Low self-esteem, self-worth and identity struggles
Relationship difficulties, attachment issues and codependency
Sex addiction and compulsive patterns
LGBTQ+ experiences, sexuality and self-acceptance
Exploring neurodiversity (Autism / ADHD), masking, burnout or late diagnosis
Whether you are feeling stuck, searching for clarity, or ready for change, counselling can offer the space to uncover what you have been holding and gently move towards healing.
If you’re ready, or even just curious about beginning counselling, you are welcome to reach out.
All parts of you are welcome here.
All parts of your story matter.
Counselling sessions are available face-to-face in Ryton, Gateshead, NE40 3TX.
